Why It's Different

More than tutorials: progress, structure, and real support

Studio Sessions is not just a collection of videos. It’s a space where young creatives build skills that translate into their own creative practice and where parents see confidence grow.

What sets it apart:

  • Progress that builds  | Each lesson follows on from the last, so children see their skills grow and want to keep going.

  • Time to learn without pressure: Lessons are clear, steady, and easy to return to.

  • Connection that feels optional: Live sessions add rhythm, not obligation

  • Support for parents too | Everything is in one place, with clear guidance, structure, and the reassurance that I’m here if you have questions.

  • A balance of structure and freedom | Giving young creatives the tools they need, while leaving space for their own ideas and style.

It’s simple to step into. No fancy materials, no pressure, and no ‘perfect drawing’ expectations. They’ll ease in gently, build skills naturally, and begin to see their drawing in a whole new way.

Studio Sessions is taught by me, Joella, an artist and educator with over 14 years of experience teaching children and young people, and more than 7 of those years working online. My approach to teaching art has always been rooted in two things:

How children actually learn, and how I work as an artist myself.

I care deeply about building strong foundations, but just as much about giving children the space to think, pause, and explore ideas in their own way. I’ve seen time and again that when young creatives are given calm structure, clear guidance, and room to work independently, confidence grows naturally.

That belief sits at the heart of Studio Sessions. This course isn’t about rushing through techniques or producing a finished result. It’s about helping young creatives develop a way of thinking and working that they can return to again and again, in art, and beyond.

What parents have been noticing......

“My daughter was so excited to get started that we spent the first day working through it, it’s brilliant.”

“They are just like a toolbox, and he’s learning how to shape his creativity. I can see him getting more confident using new techniques. I’ve really enjoyed doing this alongside him.”

“She has taken the skills learned so far outside of the classes, drawing in the evening before bed as a calm exercise to end the day. It’s early days, but I can already see it building her confidence.”

“He could transfer the skills and techniques learnt to other drawings.”

“The pacing is good and it’s easy to follow.”

FAQs

What age is the course for?
Studio Sessions is designed mainly for young creatives aged 9-14. Younger children (7-8) can join in with a little support from a parent or sibling, and older teens (15-18) are welcome if they’d like to strengthen their foundations or build confidence.

Why the age range is broad?

Art isn’t about fixed levels, but how you use tools and ideas at any age.

That’s why the age range is broad. My teaching style is friendly, clear, and down to earth, so younger children can join with support while older teens can take the same skills further in their own way.

How long are the video lessons?
Each lesson is 25 - 30 minutes of teaching. There are natural moments to pause and draw inside the video; most children choose to pause a little longer and spend extra time on the activity, so the total making time is often more than the video length usually about 1 hour.

After each lesson, I set a small take away task so they can apply the skill to a subject or project of their own. The sessions are designed to be revisited too. Going back over a lesson later helps young creatives notice new things and deepen their learning.

How long do we have access to the course?
Your child will have 6 months of access to all the video lessons, along with three live sessions included during that time. They can move at their own pace, step by step, or dipping back into lessons whenever it suits them.

What materials will my child need?
We keep it simple: just paper, pencils, and a rubber to begin with. In session 4 there welcome to use extra materials of their choice.

My No Stress, Anytime Refund Promise
I want Studio Sessions to feel genuinely helpful, inspiring, and worth every penny.
So if at any point you feel the course isn’t the right fit for your young creative,  whether that’s after one video or halfway through,  just send me an email and I’ll refund you. No forms, no awkward questions.

I believe good teaching should feel supportive, not stressful, and I want you to feel completely safe trying it out.

When are the live sessions?

Held on weekends, at different times each month to suit schedules and time zones.

How many live sessions are included?

Up to three, which you can join anytime within your 6 months of access.

How long are the live sessions?

Each one is about an hour.

Does my child need to turn their camera/mic on?

No, children can join however they feel comfortable.

What happens in the live sessions? Do they have to attend?
The live sessions are a chance to connect with other young creatives, share what they’ve been making, and sometimes revisit a technique from the course in more depth. They’re completely optional,  the course works perfectly on its own,  but they add an extra layer of encouragement and community.

Can we join from anywhere in the world?
Yes! Studio Sessions is fully online, so you can take part wherever you are.

TESTIMONIALS

"She has really enjoyed the class and looks forward to it every week. It’s boosted her confidence and creativity, and she’s always excited to share what she’s made. It’s been a really positive experience for her" - Esmat (daughter joined Mini Creatives Club)

----------

"Joella’s kind, calm, and structured approach creates such a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow. She has a wonderful ability to support each child’s unique personality and pace. It’s been a beautiful experience, and we’re so grateful for it. My daughter is 9 and can be quite shy, especially in new groups, so I was a little nervous about how she'd find the experience. But week by week, her confidence grew. She truly looked forward to each session and was so proud of what she was learning and creating." - Lisa (daughter joined the Mini Creatives Club)

--------

"Charlie really enjoys the lessons, his confidence has increased a lot since starting the weekly group and the art work has been fantastic too! Thanks Joella!" - Amy (son joined the Young Creatives Course)
