Young Artist Course (Ages 13-16)

This course is designed especially for young artists who are ready to take their creativity to the next level. Whether they’re about to start GCSE Art or are already deep into their coursework, this class helps build confidence, skill, and a sense of artistic direction, without losing the fun and freedom that makes art great.

Each session follows the same theme and project focus as our Young Creatives course, but with a more advanced twist. We dive deeper into techniques, explore how to develop personal responses, and support students in branching off into their own individual projects. It’s all about learning together, then experimenting with independence.

Perfect for:

  • Year 9 students preparing for GCSE Art

  • Year 10-11 students looking to strengthen skills and ideas

  • Young artists who want more challenge, feedback, and structure

Students will learn how to:

  • Build and refine core skills through drawing, painting, mark making & collage

  • Think critically and creatively about their own work

  • Develop sketchbook pages with intention and originality

  • Build confidence in talking about and evaluating art

It’s a supportive, relaxed space with room to experiment, make mistakes, ask questions, and really grow as a young artist. Every student is encouraged to explore their own style while still learning valuable foundations that feed into schoolwork and beyond.

How Online Works

Can teaching art online really work? Absolutely!

In my experience, online classes are both accessible and highly effective. Through live Zoom sessions, I bring high quality art lessons straight to you. Whether you’re in a bustling city, a quiet village, or away from home. I know not everyone has easy access to local art classes or studios, but we all deserve the chance to deepen our creativity and skills in something we love.

During each live Zoom class, we’ll dive into various art techniques, materials, and ideas together, with other like minded creatives who share the same passion.

What You’ll Need:

All you need is a device, a WiFi connection, and some basic art materials. I’ll provide a material list for each class, and I always try to keep it simple and affordable. If you don’t have something, it’s usually easy to find.

The online format gives you an up-close view of the creative process. With one camera focused on the artwork and another on me, you won’t miss a single detail. And if you can’t make a class, no worries, I can record everything so you can catch up later!

TESTIMONIALS

"She has really enjoyed the class and looks forward to it every week. It’s boosted her confidence and creativity, and she’s always excited to share what she’s made. It’s been a really positive experience for her" - Esmat (daughter joined Mini Creatives Club)

----------

"Joella’s kind, calm, and structured approach creates such a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow. She has a wonderful ability to support each child’s unique personality and pace. It’s been a beautiful experience, and we’re so grateful for it. My daughter is 9 and can be quite shy, especially in new groups, so I was a little nervous about how she'd find the experience. But week by week, her confidence grew. She truly looked forward to each session and was so proud of what she was learning and creating." - Lisa (daughter joined the Mini Creatives Club)

--------

"Charlie really enjoys the lessons, his confidence has increased a lot since starting the weekly group and the art work has been fantastic too! Thanks Joella!" - Amy (son joined the Young Creatives Course)
