Session
A 3 day course exploring how artists develop ideas from early sketches and experimentation into a more resolved final artwork. Throughout the course, young creatives will learn how to research ideas, test compositions, experiment visually, and gradually refine their work rather than rushing straight into a final piece. We’ll explore how artists problem solve creatively, make decisions, adapt ideas, and build confidence in their own artistic voice along the way. Rather than everyone producing identical outcomes, the course is designed to help each young creative develop work that feels personal to them. We’ll learn together through guided exercises, demonstrations, sketchbook development, discussion, and experimentation, before gradually giving more space for individual ideas and interpretations to develop naturally across the three sessions. The focus is not simply on creating a polished final piece, but on understanding the creative process behind how meaningful artwork is actually developed. Young creatives will leave the course with: a stronger understanding of how artists develop ideas over time increased confidence experimenting and refining their work sketchbook pages full of planning, studies, and creative exploration a more developed final artwork connected to their own ideas and interests practical creative techniques they can continue using in future artwork independently Materials Young creatives are welcome to create their final piece using whichever materials they feel most excited to work with. Suggested materials: Sketchbook or paper Drawing pencils Colouring pencils, paints, or mixed media materials of choice Rubber and sharpener How Online Sessions Work Sessions take place live on Zoom in a calm and supportive small-group environment. The Zoom chat box is always a lovely way for everyone to ask questions, contribute ideas, and take part in a way that feels comfortable to them. Perfect for young creatives who enjoy developing ideas, experimenting creatively, and spending longer building artwork with more depth and individuality.
