Portfolio & Sketchbook Building Course (Ages 13-17)

This course bridges the gap between a passion for art and the demands of academia. It's tailored to support anyone eager to deepen their learning and to help support them whilst preparing for GCSE or A-level art, scholarships, or college portfolio preparation.

This course is all about building there confidence and creativity through sketchbook development! They'll learn how to create a sketchbook that reflects skills, growth, and personality. Together, we’ll explore essential techniques, experiment with a variety of materials, and draw inspiration from amazing artists to document their progress. They'll also pick up tips on expressing, discussing, and analysing their work, using these insights to bring the sketchbook to life. By the end, they’ll have a well rounded, diverse portfolio that showcases creativity, skills, and love for art!

Before the course begins, I like to gather some information from the students to get a sense of their levels and goals. I'll provide individual recommendations for creative work that they can continue between classes, especially if they have a deadline they're working towards. Of course, none of this is expected and completely depends on each student and their main goal. I want everyone to feel comfortable, supported and get the best out of this course.

The course aims to teach core skills collectively, followed by independent work with support.

How Online Works

Can teaching art online really work? Absolutely!

In my experience, online classes are both accessible and highly effective. Through live Zoom sessions, I bring high quality art lessons straight to you. Whether you’re in a bustling city, a quiet village, or away from home. I know not everyone has easy access to local art classes or studios, but we all deserve the chance to deepen our creativity and skills in something we love.

During each live Zoom class, we’ll dive into various art techniques, materials, and ideas together, with other like minded creatives who share the same passion.

What You’ll Need:

All you need is a device, a WiFi connection, and some basic art materials. I’ll provide a material list for each class, and I always try to keep it simple and affordable. If you don’t have something, it’s usually easy to find.

The online format gives you an up-close view of the creative process. With one camera focused on the artwork and another on me, you won’t miss a single detail. And if you can’t make a class, no worries, I can record everything so you can catch up later!
